Abolishing the Myths
I am regularly surprised by some of the reasons why patients believe they have
poor teeth. During our initial consultation, together we discover any missunderstandings
and gaps in your knowledge about good dental hygene and if necessary, find ways
to get you back on track.
Brushing and Flossing
Brushing teeth is the best way to keep your teeth and mouth
clean and reduce the risk of decay. You should brush at least
twice a day, after breakfast and before going to bed, and
floss once a day - maybe before going to bed.
Like most Dentists, we thank the fluoridation of water supplies ( including
Broome) for the massive reduction of tooth decay since the 1960s.
Unfortunately, if you live in the communities outside of
Broome, you are not drinking fluoridated water ( unless there
is naturally occuring fluoride in your water).
It is essential that you brush with a fluoride containing
toothpaste, so please be careful of the Herbal toothpastes
that often do not contain fluoride.

Some people can get a build up of calculus or tartar (same

you have your teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months
at least so that your gums can stay healthy
If you find having your teeth cleaned is painful, please
let me know and there are great anaesthetic sprays and gels
that can make teeth cleaning as comfortable as possible.
